Captured in Shelby County Tennessee, April 16, 1863 by Colonel Hurst
a fellow Tennessean and Masonic brother. He treated Colonel Green
with Masonic honor.
He was sent to Gratiot Prison in St. Louis for two month and then transferred
to Norfolk, Virginia where "his death warrant was read to him."
He was finally made a part of the group of officers to be sent to Fort
Delaware aboard the Maple Leaf.
He was among the group who escaped from the Maple Leaf.
was court martialed on October 4, 1864 and resigned October 18, 1864
for disobeying the order to place Colonel Ed Rucker in command of the
brigade.
Personal Information: Occupation: Prior to the war he was a farmer and physician
in Covington, Tennessee.
After the war he was Editor of the Tipton Record.
